Located in Bangor, Maine the Dicovery Museum is a great place for a homeschool field-trip!

L.C.Bates Museum
Not far from Skowhegan/Waterville is Hinkley where this local gem is an inexpensive, and totally worthwhile venture for any family, but especially for homeschoolers.  PS--the ladies there are really sweet!  Please note however, that the museum is not heated through the winter, though you can still go--just be advised you may want mittens!

Maine is blessed with a bounty of wilderness and outdoor adventures for families; homeschoolers seeking to take advantage of the scenic-beauty and local-culture can find all sorts of useful information at Maine's Parks and Lands online-resources.
